FOR THE GUYS
FOR THE GUYS
Lets just say it: pilates can be a bit intimidating for many guys, or those those don’t fit the online pilates ‘type’
Its all good, but it doesn’t haver to be that way!
Let me dispel some myths and lay out a few basics …
Pilates is much more than stretching and fancy choreography. Its a really tough workout. It benefits all people of all ages and it annoys me that I don’t see more guys exploring it and benefiting from it as I have.
Originally used to rebab injured professional dancers about 100 years ago, the modern Stott Pilates repertoire evolved to be a Physical-Therapy-informed version of Pilates, training strength through better patterns of join movement and load management.
At its most basic level, a good Pilates practice helps ensure: 1) that your ‘core’ and ‘small’ joint-stabilizing muscles are doing the jobs, so that 2) the ‘big’ muscles can do their job better/easier
Now, more and more Pro and amateur athletes are practicing pilates for these benefits. (give some examples)
Why? Because a regular pilates routine helps you conquer your life and your cross-training workouts with fewer aches, pains and injuries
PS, The pelvic floor is real guys, yes you have one. Pilates can you help you keep it healthy too!
